I just submitted this to Overheard in New York. My husband and I overheard this while we were waiting for a show to start in the Central Park Zoo.
Mother to daughter:
"I'm not interested in your hunger pangs right now. Now turn around and look at the sea lions."
I ♥ New York!

Wow. The milk of mother's kindness has dried up in that one, hasn't it...?
Yeah. It was pretty hot out there. When the little girl came back again and complained because the sea lion show hadn't started, she said, "That's because there's nothing to see yet. Get back over there before you lose your spot."
My brother just emailed me saying I made this up, but it's totally true.
