What happened to the guy we elected? I know he caved in to extending the Bush tax cuts in order to get unemployment benefits extended. He can try to say it's in the spirit of bipartisanship, blah blah blah. But the truth is that the Republicans held those benefits hostage. They don't care about helping the unemployed: they just want to beat Obama. And they have. Soundly.
Unfortunately, we are the ones who will pay while the supposed "deficit hawks" incur more crushing debt in the name of their wealthy donors. Obama talks about exchange of ideas. But the Republicans talk about Obama's cooperation; they're pleased he's finally reaching out. It makes it easier to mug him in broad daylight.
I have a sinking feeling. If we really did elect a Superman, then Congress is Obama's kryptonite. Or maybe he was always just a politician, albeit one with a rousing use of the English language.(We were certainly starved for that after eight years of Bush.) In any case, he is weak as a kitten now. Words are seemingly all he has left. Can he spin a tale that will make us believe in him again? More important, can he make it come true?

>>> ...maybe he was always just a politician
Bingo.
He can't man up. He's the first black president of America and he's presiding for posterity's sake. He's governing over people who are STARVED for a real American hero, one of the people, for the people. But, as you said ...
bingo.
all the same people who were clamoring about this guy, obama, are now reduced to apologists and war-weary shrugs about, "at least it's something."
whatever. I got an email from OFA with a link to his video 'splainin' hisself. I unsubbed from their list.
Obama, I'm done. I want Elizabeth Warren for Queen of the US.
